The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London

The single most high profile use of our many different processes. 12 metre high glass wall, 30 lineal metres.

This area formed a glazed enclosure between two buildings, the Old Floral Hall and the new structure. Ove Arup Structural Engineers, advised of the differential movement in the two buildings. Graham Dodds of Arup designed the wall on a simple pivot system that allowed the two parts to move independently. Our own engineer, Stephen Bandy, of Dewhurst McFarlane and Partners then worked with our design and drawing team to ensure a safe working structure. The Dow Corning structural adhesive was a key part of the mechanism, the 6m high DG insulating units are held back on the 2 x 19mm laminated fins.

The development highlights the many and varied processes that make our company's projects different from the main stream glass producers.

2 x 19m laminate glass, 6 metres high insulating units structural silicone agents, stainless pressing and turning are all undertaken in our own factory.

Flat toughening, toughened glass bends - are all reasons why we should be solving your architectural glass, metal and glazing problems!
